Worried that your Samsung Vibrant was going to be stuck with Android 2.1 forevermore? Worry not! T-Mobile's chief marketing officer Cole Brodman told PCMag that Vibrant users can expect to see the Froyo upgrade starting tomorrow, with all users getting bumped within a few weeks. Going forward, Brodman explained, T-Mo hopes to keep all handsets up to date within 3 to 5 months of Google releasing a new version of the OS.

4G Sidekick Coming Soon to T-Mobile, Only This Time It's Running Android
Straight out of T-Mobile CEO's mouth, we have confirmation of a 4G Sidekick: only this one's running Android. There's also a 4G Samsung Galaxy S on the way, which will infuriate those who bought the phone last year.
CEO Philipp Humm made the announcement at a T-Mobile briefing today, saying "we will launch as new the Samsung Galaxy S 4G...and coming soon, will also be a Sidekick 4G. Everybody knows the Sidekick, and we're going to relaunch the Sidekick and bring it as a 4G device, Android based, into the market."
Not since T-Mobile ditched the Sidekick last July have we thought about the original messenger phone. Before teenager girls' hopes and dreams were quashed with that brutal commercial decision, there was talk that T-Mobile would be relaunching the Sidekick brand with an HTC-made Android Sidekick. Supposedly this was all part of an intriguingly-named Project Emerald series of phones, which hasn't been spoken of in almost a year now.
That 4G Galaxy S is expected to be unveiled at Mobile World Congress in February, but considering the trade show is very much a European affair we can't say with all certainty that the Sidekick will be joining it then. This is definitely one to get excited about, but will it be one of those American delights the rest of the world misses out on? Like Twinkies and Hulu?

Froyo is Finally Being Used by Over 50% of Android Users
The phone went on sale mid-December solely at Best Buy in the States, and while we're not happy about the state of Android firmware distribution, it's very much early days yet.
Froyo, on the other hand, has smashed its way from 43.4 per cent of all Android versions being used, in December, to 51.8%.
Considering Froyo launched back in May, it's heartening that over 50 per cent of users are now experiencing the speedier version, but we would've expected a larger chunk of that pie by now. Thankfully just 4.7 per cent of Android owners are running Android 1.5 (Cupcake) now—you've got to feel for those people, mind you.This post is coppied:
