Motorola Atrix 4G system dump available
at
4:50 PM
Another new device in the hands of other users means it going to get put through the inevitable system dump. That is exactly what has happened to the Motorola Atrix 4G and it has some goodies for everyone out there. Wallpapers, ringtones and even the boot animation are all available for download now.
Plus, if you like to tinker around with the internals you can get at the complete system dump as well. If you're not much for that, stick to the basics but if you're a developer or ROM cooker then by all means have at it. [Android Central Forums]

AT&T confirms the Inspire 4G does not feature HSUPA
at
4:48 PM
We've been hearing from many of you who bought a shiny new Inspire 4G that there appears to be an issue with the device upload speeds. While AT&T is busy working out the kinks in their HSPA+ network, getting backhaul in place and pouring the magic 4G dust into the wires, most of us with an Inspire 4G are still using the 3G HSPA network. HSPA is broken down into two parts -- HSDPA (download) and HSUPA (upload).
The Inspire 4G is not HSUPA capable, according to AT&T. No conspiracy. No rumor. Just the answer, straight from the source.
This explains why most of us are seeing fast 3G download speeds, but no-so-much on the upload side. I had a bit of a play with this myself last night, and see the same thing -- download speeds around 2 Mbps, and upload speeds around 200 kbps. You can see above what our (and TiPb's) own Jeremy Sikora is seeing for speeds in Chicago. He also notes that upload speeds on his iPhone 4 (which is HSUPA capable) are about twice what he sees with his Inspire.
While it's not the news most of us want to hear, it does clear up the confusion. Thanks to the folks at AT&T who took time to answer our questions.Source: AndroidCentral
Video: DROID Incredible Actually Running Honeycomb, New Lock Screen and All
at
4:47 PM
A couple of weeks ago we posted a video from the guys over at t3hh4xx0r who had a quick port of Honeycomb running on the Incredible, but most of you noticed it looked nothing like the tablet version we are seeing on the XOOM and second guessed it. Well, they’ve revisited Android 3.0 and actually got the tablet version up and running on a DI with almost everything working from what I can tell. This is one of those “Holy sh*t that’s cool!” things, meaning you shouldn’t expect some super polished working port that will forever change the way your DInc works. Just check out the video, high five all of the Android devs you know, and smile on a Friday.

Wallpapers, Ringtones and Boot Animation Pulled from Motorola Atrix 4G System Dump
at
4:46 PM
Since many of the readers of our little site here are Motorola product owners, I thought I’d point out that the Atrix 4G system dump has found a home on the internet. It’s essentially the same version of Blur we all have running on the DROID X, so there isn’t a lot of new stuff, but a couple of the wallpapers look different and you can trick everyone into thinking your phone has a dual-core processor by using its new boot animation. Ringtones are included as well.
Now, if only that title said BIONIC, right? And not to hate on our cousin from AT&T, but in terms of looks, the BIONIC kills it.
Links and boot animation video after the break.

Couple of new wallpapers. I think.

Motorola XOOM will be Available for $599 on Contract at Verizon?
at
4:44 PM
We’re hearing whispers that Verizon might have just OK’d a subsidized price on the Motorola XOOM for those not interested in purchasing it outright at $799. How does a $599 price point sound with a 2-year contract? We asked what you guys thought on Twitter just a few minutes ago and are seeing lovers and haters of the idea, so feel free to weigh in here.
No idea how they would structure this with a data plan, but the idea is at least a little intriguing. And no, I haven’t heard anything about a wifi-only version.
Oh, and on a semi-related note, we’ve got word that the Galaxy Tab is about to drop to $299.
We’ll continue to update this as we have more…
Cheers Spaniard!

Motorola XOOM Dummy Units Arrive in Stores
at
4:43 PM
There hasn’t been any official word out of Verizon’s camp yet, but we’re still expecting the Motorola XOOM to drop this Thursday (24th) and with the arrival of dummy units in stores, Big Red will likely spread the news either tomorrow or Monday.
Update: Sounds like real units are also in stores. Looks like we’re on for this week!

Flight Control lands in the Android Market
at
6:23 AM
Having sold millions of copies worldwide on those other (lesser) platforms, Flight Control for Android has landed in the Android Market, courtesy of the folks at Namco. If you're unfamiliar with Flight Control, it's a pretty fun game to play if you're looking to get in on some android gaming.
The basis of the game is to guide your planes to their same-colored runways without crossing the paths of other planes that you are also guiding in for landing. You simply trace out with your finger where you want the planes to go and should they crash -- well, game over for you.
Flight Control is available for $4.99 and includes stat tracking, high score counts and up to 10 different planes on multiple playing fields. Jump on past the break for the download if you want to give it a shot. Having played it myself for quite some time, I can say it is one of those games that will keep you coming back for more until you beat it.

Houston, the Motorola Atrix 4G has Been Rooted
at
6:20 AM
Before it could even officially hit the streets, the Motorola Atrix 4G has been rooted thanks to a handful of members between our AndroidForums and XDA. See it above running Titanium Backup.
There are still some hurdles to jump such as that dreaded Motorola bootloader, but the head start is encouraging. We’re well on our way to busting the handset wide open, it’s just a matter of time until custom ROMs are supported. The folks working on the root still remain skeptical on the possibility, but I’m betting that will be done in two weeks. Any takers?

Samsung Galaxy S 4G Price is $199.99 After Rebate [Official]
at
6:17 AM
We’d already gotten prices from third-party providers WalMart and Wirefly, but T-Mobile has gone ahead and announced their official pricing for the Samsung Galaxy S 4G: you’ll be able to grab the thing up for $199.99 after a $50 mail-in rebate. I’d see if I could get a better deal at a third-party retailer if I were in the market for it, though. Look for this device to hit store shelves starting February 23rd. [via T-Mobile]

Skype or Qik Video Calling Coming to AT&T?
at
6:16 AM
While Verizon has Skype and while T-Mobile and Sprint both have Qik, AT&T is the only carrier left out of the loop in regards to a major video-calling service provider. That may change according to PC World, who caught wind of a meeting between the two entities. Skype’s Rick Osterloh says to “…what out for some announcements there” in regards to a deal between them and AT&T. It isn’t concrete confirmation – and even Skype is declining to comment on what PC World alleged was said – but they never outright denied the story so I think we definitely will be on the lookout for some announcements in the (hopefully near) future.
